Beginner/Intermediate Horse Camp

Our beginner/intermediate horse camp is designed for kids coming through their first ride all the way through learning to trot, canter, and jump their first jumps.  Riders are divided into age/skill-appropriate groups for the riding lesson and lessons are tailored to ensure each individual child is making progress toward their riding goals.  In beginner/intermediate camp, kids learn all the basics for horse care and riding.  This fun-oriented camp is perfect for kids who love horses!  Open to kids age 7-16, current students and new riders of all levels in English and Western are welcome!  In a typical camp day, students prepare their horse for the ride by leading them from their stall/paddock to the grooming area, grooming them thoroughly from head to hoof, and saddling and bridling.  Campers then take a group riding lesson with one of our professional trainers for 60-90 minutes, working on perfecting the basics, learning new skills, and playing group games.  After the ride, students take care of the horses again, untacking, grooming, and sometimes even bathing.

What to bring for Horse Camp....

All riders must wear appropriate footwear - boots with a 1" heel are ideal, but close-toed well-fitted shoes are acceptable.  Kids will not be permitted to ride in sandals, clogs, slippers, etc.  Long pants should be worn, kids can bring shorts to change into for non-riding portions of camp.  Campers should bring a snack and a water bottle, and be prepared for warm weather!  Campers are welcome to bring their own helmets, but ASTM-certified helmets are provided on-site and are required for participation in camp.  Campers are welcome to bring treats (carrots, apples, peppermints) for their horses, and feeding is allowed only under supervision.  The stables provide all other tack and equipment needed for the horses.
